Synopsis: The Cylons, robots created by humanity, attack the human race's homeworlds - the Twelve Colonies - after forty years of peace. They infiltrate the Colonies with humanoid Cylons that mimic human form almost perfectly; one of these Cylons, Number Six, cripples the Colonial Fleet by seducing and exploiting Dr. Gaius Baltar, who created part of the Colonial Fleet's computer system. The Battlestar Galactica, a massive space cruiser set for decommissioning, manages to escape along with Baltar, the new president of the Colonies, Laura Roslin, and numerous civilians. After getting supplies and narrowly escaping pursuit, they flee to an unexplored part of the galaxy in search of save haven.

Synopsis: The fleet of refugee ships, led by the Battlestar Galactica, must execute a faster-than-light (FTL) jump every 33 minutes because the Cylon fleet discovers them without fail every 33 minutes after the previous jump, exhausting Galactica's crew. When a refugee ship unexpectedly disappears on a jump, then reappears three hours later, Baltar, spurred on by a hallucination of Number Six, convinces Roslin that the ship could have been infiltrated. After nuclear weapons are detected on the ship, William Adama orders the ship destroyed, despite reservations about potentially killing innocent civilians, and the fleet finally escapes from its Cylon pursuers.

Boomer's Raptor finds a planet with more water, but she finds another explosive on the ship. Adama appoints Felix Gaeta to help Baltar figure out a way to detect Cylons, and Roslin chooses Lee "Apollo" Adama as her liaison to the military. Back on Caprica, Karl "Helo" Agathon tries to evade capture with a second Boomer, implying that she is another humanoid Cylon model.

Synopsis: Adama and Roslin decide to use criminals aboard a prison ship to extract the water found last episode, though Adama has some reservations. When Roslin, Apollo, and a few others go to the prison ship, the Astral Queen, the leader of the prisoners, Tom Zarek, a former terrorist, refuses the proposal, and the prisoners take them hostage. After conflict and negotiations, Roslin agrees to allow elections in a year to promote democracy in the fleet, and Zarek and his prisoners agree to help with the water. Meanwhile, the Six in Baltar's head convinces Baltar to get a nuclear warhead for the Cylon detector.

Synopsis: After an accident on the hangar deck kills thirteen pilots, Kara "Starbuck" Thrace has to train a bunch of new recruits, or "nuggets." She ultimately tells Adama that she had passed his son, Zak Adama, on flight training even though he did not deserve it, angering Adama. Starbuck and the recruits end up facing off against a Cylon Raider patrol, and although Galactica is saved, Starbuck's Viper falls into the atmosphere of a nearby planet. Galactica's doctor, Dr. Cottle, tries to help Roslin cope with her cancer and suggests prayer, and Helo and the other Boomer find a well-stocked bomb shelter.

Synopsis: Starbuck bails out of her Viper and finds herself on an inhospitable planet alone. She finds the Raider that shot her down and discovers that it has no pilot, but is filled with what looks like organs. Adama continues to search for Starbuck, but he eventually realizes that his actions are endangering the fleet. Starbuck manages to hook herself up to the Raider and figures out how to fly it, making it to the fleet just before it jumps away. Apollo realizes that she is inside the Raider, and Adama and Starbuck put Zak's death behind them. Back on Caprica, Helo and the other Boomer get separated.

Synopsis: After a humanoid Cylon suicide bombs Galactica, Adama orders an investigation and establishes an infiltration tribunal. When the head of the investigation questions Boomer and Tyrol, they lie, and one of Tyrol's men covers for him. Their relationship comes to light, but Adama still expresses confidence in Tyrol. When the head of the investigation calls them Cylon agents and castigates Adama for allowing their affair to go on, he suspends the tribunal. After Tyrol confesses the truth about the affair to Adama, he ends his relationship with Boomer. On Caprica, Helo "rescues" the other Boomer, the whole scenario a Cylon test of his love for her.

Synopsis: Another Number Six, disguised as the assistant to a colleague of Baltar's who was on the ship destroyed in "33," brings to light photographic evidence that Baltar brought in explosives to the Colonial Defense Mainframe. Baltar is arrested and eventually starts praying to the Cylon God to free him. Despite Roslin's hopes, Felix Gaeta finds the evidence to be doctored. The Six disappears, and Baltar is more popular than ever. Boomer finds the word "Cylon" on the inside of her locker after she tells everyone to treat Starbuck's captured Raider as a living being. On Caprica, Helo and the other Boomer consummate their relationship.

Synopsis: After Roslin dreams about a Cylon, a copy of that Cylon is arrested onboard a fleet ship. Starbuck starts to interrogate him and learns of the Cylons' one God. Boomer asks Baltar to test her with his new machine to see if she is a Cylon, and although she comes up positive, Baltar lies that she is human. Roslin has more dreams and chooses to interrogate the Cylon herself, and the Cylon claims that one of the two Adamas is a Cylon. Roslin has the Cylon thrown out an airlock. On Caprica, the other Boomer has disobeyed the other Cylons because she loves Helo, and they continue to run.

Synopsis: Roslin, suspicious of William Adama after the previous episode, asks him to be the first official test subject of Baltar's new Cylon-detecting machine. Adama mysteriously brings back Ellen Tigh, Saul Tigh's ex-wife, in a Raptor. She flirts with Apollo, and Roslin has Baltar check her as well. Tigh manages to prevent a kamikaze attack by a Cylon Raider from destroying Galactica, and Baltar declares Ellen to be human, though it is unclear if he was lying or not. After Ellen lies that Adama has been flirting with her, Adama asks Tigh to hold their friendship dear. On Caprica, Helo and the other Boomer look for a ship.

Synopsis: The Battlestar Galactica is in desperate need of fuel, and they manage to find an asteroid full of it, but under the control of the Cylons. Asked for advice, Baltar picks a seemingly random spot to bomb in the Cylon mining facility. However, when Apollo bombs the spot, he destroys the whole facility, securing the fuel for the fleet. Baltar begins to think his actions are really being guided by the Cylon God. Roslin has hallucinations of snakes, and a priestess tells her of a prophecy of a dying leader that might refer to her. On Caprica, there are signs that the other Boomer may be pregnant.

Synopsis: On the holiday of the founding of the Twelve Colonies, Roslin reinstitutes the Colonies' representative body, the Quorum of Twelve. However, Zarek is chosen as one of the Colonies' representatives, and he tries to get himself elected vice president. Apollo and Starbuck arrest a man with a gun who Roslin suspects Zarek might have ordered to kill her, and the man dies in his cell mysteriously. Ultimately, Baltar is chosen as the vice president, and Ellen is implied to have enabled Zarek to kill the assassin. Back on Caprica, Helo realizes that Boomer is a Cylon when he sees another Boomer, and he runs away from her.

Synopsis: Roslin discovers that she has six months to live, and Apollo gets angry when he finds out that Starbuck has slept with Baltar. On a scouting mission, a Galactica Raptor finds a planet that the priestess Elosha identifies as the old human world of Kobol. Roslin wants Apollo to use the captured Cylon Raider to retrieve an artifact from Caprica to show the way to the mythical Earth, but Adama refuses. Starbuck agrees to get the artifact and flies off with the Raider, and the Kobol survey team is attacked by Cylons. Boomer tries to commit suicide, and on Caprica, Helo forces the other Boomer to help him escape the planet.

Synopsis: On the planet with the survey team, Baltar sees hallucinations of himself, Number Six, and an unknown baby. Adama, knowing of Roslin and Starbuck's plan, has her imprisoned, and Tigh has Apollo arrested when he tries to defend the president. The other Boomer reveals to Helo that she is pregnant. Starbuck arrives on Caprica and finds the artifact. Starbuck finds Helo and tries to kill the other Boomer, but Helo stops her. Galactica fends off an attack from a Cylon Basestar orbiting Kobol, and Boomer finds copies of herself on it when she goes to plant explosives. The Basestar is destroyed, and Boomer shoots Adama twice when she returns to Galactica, her programming now active.

Synopsis: Adama is in critical condition after being shot by Boomer, and Tigh arrests Boomer just before ordering the fleet to jump, stranding the Kobol survey team. However, when Galactica jumps, the fleet is nowhere to be found. Tigh has Galactica jump back and orders Gaeta to compute where the fleet has jumped, which forces Gaeta to network the computers together. They find the Cylons waiting for them, and a Cylon Heavy Raider crashes into Galactica with Cylon Centurions aboard just as Galactica jumps to the rest of the fleet. The Six in Baltar's head says that the baby from the vision was their child. The Kobol survey team lose a member when the soldier in command makes a hasty decision. Back on Caprica, the other Boomer steals Starbuck's raider, stranding Starbuck and Helo.

Synopsis: A Cylon virus starts shutting down Galactica's systems as the Cylon Centurions infiltrate the ship. Apollo, released in the previous episode to command Galactica's Vipers, frees Roslin so she can escape. On Tigh's orders, Apollo's group manages to stop the Centurions from venting everything inside the ship out into space, though Tigh is not happy that Apollo let Roslin go. Gaeta somehow manages to purge the virus from Galactica. Anastasia Dualla and Billy Keikeya, who have had romantic troubles, reconcile, and Dr. Cottle returns from another ship to treat Adama. Baltar has another vision that Adama will kill his and Six's child. Tyrol is forced to administer a lethal dosage of medicine to put one of his subordinates out of his misery. On Caprica, Starbuck and Helo arrive at Starbuck's old apartment and retrieve her truck.

Synopsis: On Kobol, the soldier in command of the survey team orders an attack on a Cylon missile battery to ensure that a rescue ship can land safely, despite the survey team's casualties. Head Six warns Baltar of a traitor in the group, which proves to be the soldier in command, who threatens to shoot Cally Henderson when she freezes up before the attack. Baltar kills the soldier, and Tyrol manages to destroy the battery, allowing Raptors to come in and save them. The team survivors cover up the soldier's murder. On Galactica, Dr. Cottle saves Adama's life, and Roslin's attempts to regain power prompt Tigh to dissolve the Quorum of Twelve and impose martial law on the fleet.

Synopsis: On Caprica, Starbuck and Helo locate a group of survivors, though they fight at first because neither group is sure that the other is not a bunch of Cylons. Starbuck gets to know the group's leader, a former sportsman named Samuel Anders. Back on Galactica, the fleet protests the declaration of martial law, and Ellen convinces Tigh not to back down. Roslin flees to Zarek with the help of Apollo, Dualla, and others, and Baltar gives Tyrol poison to force Boomer to reveal how many Cylon agents are still in the fleet. He then clears Tyrol of being a Cylon. When Boomer is being transferred within Galactica, Cally shoots her, and she dies in Tyrol's arms.

Synopsis: When Starbuck, Helo, Anders, and the Resistance try to capture a Heavy Raider, the attack goes badly, and Starbuck wakes up in the hospital under the care of a mysterious doctor. Starbuck escapes after the doctor says her name, which she never told him, and she confirms that he is a Cylon. She discovers that the facility is a human breeding factory, and she destroys it, killing the human women there. She is rescued by the Resistance, assisted by the returned other Boomer in a Heavy Raider, and she, Helo, and the other Boomer take the Heavy Raider to return back to Galactica. Back in the fleet, Roslin starts to win people over with her religious prophecies relating to Kobol, and Cally is in the brig for killing Boomer.

Synopsis: Roslin and her faction, including Zarek, Elosha, and Apollo struggle with internal problems and how to deal with Adama. Starbuck, Helo, and the other Boomer arrive, and Roslin forces the other Boomer to take them to the Temple of Athena on Kobol, where the artifact from Caprica is supposed to go. On Kobol, they are ambushed by Centurions, who kill Elosha, and the other Boomer helps the group fend them off. Zarek wants Apollo dead and distrusts Roslin's newfound religiosity, and Adama's new head Viper pilot does not measure up. Adama denounces Roslin, and Dualla expresses disappointment in him for lying about the existence of Earth and for the schism in the fleet. Adama vows to bring the fleet back together.

Synopsis: Head Six talks with Baltar about their baby and states that she is his mental coping mechanism created because of his complicity in the attack on the Twelve Colonies. On Kobol, as the other Boomer guides Roslin's party, Adama, Billy, and Tyrol come down and reconcile with them. Zarek's aid tries to manipulate the other Boomer to get rid of Adama, but she turns on him, saying that she has no hidden programming. They arrive at the Temple, which has a complex map of constellations by which they locate what they believe to be Earth, using a nebula as a guiding point. They return to Galactica, and Adama and Roslin publicly put aside their differences, ending martial law. The other Boomer is put in the brig, and Head Six continues to mess with Baltar, telling him that she is an angel of God sent to help him end humanity.

Synopsis: A group of marines accidentally fire into a crowd of civilians while trying to confiscate supplies, as per a previous order from Tigh. A journalist named D'Anna Biers tries to figure out how everything happened in an objective manner, finding out a few interesting things, most notably that Dr. Cottle is treating the other Boomer for a complication in her pregnancy. She even captures the crew fending off a Cylon Raider attack and uncovers one Viper pilot's plot to kill Tigh. After the documentary is complete, the truth is revealed: Biers is a Cylon, and the Raider attack was just to bring the footage of the documentary back to the Cylons, who are pleased to hear about the other Boomer's pregnancy.

Synopsis: The Cylon virus from Valley of Darkness reappears in Galactica's systems, and the other Boomer is called on to deal with the issue. The Cylons attack in full force, but the other Boomer hooks herself up to Galactica, deletes the virus, and sends another virus to the Cylons, crippling their forces. Helo and Tyrol fight over their relationships with the two Boomers after Cally is released, and Tyrol manages to build a stealth Viper, which Starbuck takes on a successful test flight, from scrap parts with the help of his subordinates. Tyrol names the ship "Laura" after Roslin and visits the other Boomer in the brig. Helo's crewmates finally get over their anger over Helo's relationship with a Cylon.

Synopsis: Galactica runs into another surviving Battlestar, the Pegasus, and its commander, Admiral Helena Cain, boards Galactica and tells Adama and Roslin how they escaped the Colonies. Although Cain promises not to involve herself in Galactica internal affairs, she quickly takes control of the fleet, and Apollo and Starbuck are transferred to the Pegasus. As rumors of Cain's brutality spread, Baltar finds a tortured Six in the Pegasus brig and reaches out to her. An interrogator from the Pegasus tries to rape the other Boomer, but Helo and Tyrol kill him, and Cain sentences them both to be executed. To save his men, Adama orders a marine attack on the Pegasus, and Cain sends Vipers to intercept.

Synopsis: As the forces of Galactica and Pegasus stare each other down, Starbuck returns in the stealth fighter with photos of a strange Cylon ship. Roslin convinces Adama and Cain to hold off on the issue of Helo and Tyrol until this threat is dealt with. Cain puts Starbuck in charge of Pegasus' Vipers and promises that she will help her rescue Anders back on Caprica. Cain tortures her Six copy to find out about the ship and learns that it is where Cylon consciousnesses go to download into new bodies, which gives Cain hope of stopping the Cylons. Tigh learns from Cain's executive officer that she stripped civilian ships of their parts, took some useful personnel, and left the rest to die. Adama and Cain both independently ready plans to take out the other once the Cylon ship is destroyed.

Synopsis: Everyone prepares for the attack, and Starbuck asks Apollo to help kill Cain, to which he agrees reluctantly. The other Boomer tells Adama that Cylons hate humans because humans are so violent and murderous. When the attack commences, Apollo takes out the resurrection ship's engines in the stealth ship, but the stealth ship is destroyed, and he is rescued before he runs out of oxygen. Neither Adama nor Cain give the order to assassinate the other. Baltar helps the imprisoned Six escape from the brig and promises to protect her, but she chooses to assassinate Cain instead. Cain's XO is placed in command of the Pegasus, Helo and Tyrol are released, and Roslin promotes Adama to admiral.

Synopsis: As Roslin's cancer continues to worsen, she decides to force the other Boomer to terminate her pregnancy because of the potential threat the baby could pose. The other Boomer and Helo object, but Baltar, spurred on by Head Six, resolves the situation by discovering that the baby's blood can cure Roslin's cancer. After a transfusion, Roslin is cured within a few days, and the baby is allowed to be born. Roslin recalls seeing Baltar with a Number Six back on Caprica, and a letter from Roslin makes Baltar believe that she will never trust him. Adama deals with a group of Cylon sympathizers named Demand Peace, arresting their representative and ultimately agreeing to negotiations after a freighter ship bombing. Meanwhile, Baltar, meets with the Six from Pegasus, who has joined Demand Peace. He ultimately gives the nuclear warhead he procured a while back to her.

Synopsis: Apollo deals with his brush with death from Resurrection Ship Part 2, regularly visiting a prostitute. Roslin discovers that the Pegasus' commander was involved in the black market after his mysterious murder and learns that others, including Baltar, were involved as well. She tells Baltar to resign, but he refuses. As Apollo investigates the murder for Roslin, he and the prostitute are attacked. Thanks to a tip from Zarek, who refused to help the black market, he learns that the prostitute is working for the black market. Apollo offers the head of the black market conditional amnesty, but the head refuses, and Apollo kills him. However, Zarek is revealed to, in fact, have ties to the black market. The prostitute rejects Apollo, and Dualla puts aside her feelings for Apollo to return to Billy.

Synopsis: Starbuck vows to take out an infamous Cylon Raider, and another Viper pilot, Louanne "Kat" Katraine, her rival, bets that she can take out the Raider first. However, Kat's behavior becomes increasingly erratic and destructive, unsurprising after her overdose on stimulants in an earlier episode. Starbuck deals with her feelings for both Anders and Apollo rather poorly, and when she is hung over and refuses to go out, her replacement pilot is killed. Kat confronts her, but the two then must go out to take out the infamous Cylon Raider. Starbuck acts recklessly, but she ends up pulling off at the last minute when she thinks about Anders. Kat destroys the Raider, and Starbuck concedes to her, toasting numerous deceased Viper pilots starting from the beginning of the conflict.

Synopsis: A terrorist group takes control of a recreational ship in the fleet, with Apollo, Dualla, Billy, and Ellen on board, and demands that Adama hand over the other Boomer, as the group's leader wants revenge for her slain husband. Adama hesitates when he learns that Apollo is on the ship, but Roslin does not want to negotiate with terrorists. Starbuck tries to infiltrate with a marine squad, but she accidentally shoots Apollo and falls back. Adama sends the dead body of the original Boomer, and when the terrorist group realizes the deception, Billy saves Dualla's life, sacrificing himself. Another marine squad stops the terrorists, and Roslin mourns Billy while Apollo recovers with Dualla at his side.

Synopsis: Apollo is sent over to Pegasus to help its new commanding officer, whose expertise is in engineering rather than leading. When two Raptors disappear, Starbuck concludes that they had been lured in by a false Cylon signal. Ignoring Starbuck's advice, Pegasus' commanding officer jumps Pegasus to find the Raptors and falls into a Cylon trap. Apollo takes command as the commanding officer dies fixing the FTL drive. Apollo gets Pegasus back to the fleet, and Adama makes him Pegasus' new commanding officer. Meanwhile, Roslin deals with the issue of the legality of abortion for a pregnant teen stowaway on Galactica whose parents refuse to let her get one because of their religious beliefs. To prevent the human race from dying out, Roslin bans abortion, but she allows the girl to get her baby aborted beforehand. Baltar publicly decries Roslin's decision and announces that he will run for the presidency.

A copy of reporter D'Anna Biers, a Number Three, asks Six to help Boomer deal with this. When Anders and the resistance attack, Six and Boomer kill the Three to save him, and agree to work together to change Cylon opinions of humans. Back on Galactica, the other Boomer gives birth to her baby, but Roslin has Dr. Cottle fake the baby's death to keep the baby away from the other Boomer and the Cylons. Finally, Starbuck, the other Boomer, and the rescue team arrive on Caprica and meet up with the resistance, which is about to be attacked by Cylon forces.

The two Cavils tell Roslin that humanity has been granted a "reprieve" in the wake of Boomer and Caprica Six's rise to power, and Roslin has them both thrown out of an airlock. A few days later, Roslin wins the election, despite all predictions, but Gaeta discovers that Tigh and others rigged the election in her favor with Roslin's knowledge, and Baltar is sworn into office. The Six from the Pegasus blows up a bunch of fleet ships with the warhead Baltar gave her. The episode then jumps a year later, when humanity has settled the planet which they call "New Caprica." Anders and Starbuck are married, as are Apollo and Dualla and Tyrol and Cally, and Tyrol and Cally have a child. Baltar lets Gaeta, now his aide, handle most matters. The Cylons suddenly arrive in orbit, and Apollo convinces Adama to jump Galactica and Pegasus away, leaving the planet unprotected. Baltar is forced to surrender to the Cylons, and New Caprica is taken over.

On New Caprica, Leoben Conoy, Cylon Number 2, has imprisoned Starbuck in a copy of her Caprica apartment and tries to force her to love him, and Starbuck cannot escape, no matter how many times she kills him. Tigh has lost his eye in prison, and he is released when Ellen seduces a Brother Cavil. He, Tyrol, and Anders, the leaders of the anti-Cylon resistance, plan suicide bombings, including one to take out Baltar. They get information about Baltar and other useful things from a secret informant, including communications access to send information to a Galactica Raptor in orbit around New Caprica. However, a miscommunication between the informant, revealed to be Gaeta, and the resistance results in a suicide bombing at a Cylon-controlled police academy graduation at which Baltar is not present.

Synopsis: The Cylons crack down on the resistance, testing the resolve of its leaders, sans Tigh. Leoben gives Starbuck a toddler, telling her that it is her baby from being in the birthing facility back in the episode The Farm. Although Starbuck is doubtful, she grows to care for the child after it injures itself due to her neglect. The Cylons have the human police force, led by one of Tyrol's old deck crew subordinates, arrest hundreds of humans suspected to be related to the resistance, including Zarek, Roslin, and Cally. The Cylons eventually force Baltar to sign an order to kill the prisoners while Brother Cavil forces Ellen to give them information on the resistance to save Tigh, particularly the coordinates of where Galactica forces, led by the other Boomer, who is now married to Helo, plan to meet with the resistance. The other Boomer's force is ambushed by Centurions when they land. When the execution of the prisoners begins, Tyrol's subordinate realizes what is going on and releases Cally, who flees as she hears gunfire behind her.

Synopsis: Prior to the execution, Tyrol had found out about it from his informant. The gunfire Cally hears in the present is Tyrol and the resistance attacking the Centurions. The other Boomer and her men, meeting up with Anders and a part of the resistance, manage to defeat the Centurions that ambushed them, and the other Boomer plans to steal launch keys for ships left on New Caprica so that everyone can escape when Galactica returns. Anders discovers a map that Ellen had claimed to have burned on a dead Cylon body, revealing her duplicity, but Ellen claims she was doing it to protect Tigh. D'Anna Biers discovers from an oracle that she will find the supposedly dead child of Helo and the other Boomer. She runs into the other Boomer when the latter is trying to steal the launch keys, and the other Boomer knocks her out, refusing to believe that her daughter is alive. Adama then begins to execute the rescue plan, ordering Apollo to flee to Earth if Galactica does not return in 18 hours.

Synopsis: Tigh reluctantly poisons Ellen for her role in the Cylon attack on the resistance. Galactica arrives, and the resistance attacks the Cylons across the human settlement in coordination. Galactica jumps into the atmosphere, releases Vipers to attack the Cylons, then jumps away again, damaging the ship extensively and landing it right between four Basestars. The Cylons plan to flee and offer Baltar a place with them, but Gaeta reveals his true allegiance and tells Baltar to redeem himself. Looking for a bomb that the Cylons planted to destroy the human settlement, Baltar and Caprica Six, as well as D'Anna, find Hera, who is Helo and the other Boomer's baby, and D'Anna agrees to not detonate the bomb. Anders rescues Starbuck from Leoben, and Pegasus suddenly appears to rescue Galactica. Apollo ultimately evacuates Pegasus and sets the ship to ram into a Basestar, causing enough destruction that the whole fleet manages to escape. As the fleet is reunited and celebrations begin, Starbuck discovers that the baby was not really her daughter, and Roslin learns that Hera has been lost.

As Starbuck and Anders grow apart because of her abuse by Leoben, Anders quits the group, and Starbuck takes his place. The group decides to execute Gaeta next. Tom Zarek, now the president of the Twelve Colonies, agrees to step aside in favor of Roslin after some necessary formalities. When the group tries to execute Gaeta, Gaeta reveals information that makes Tyrol realize that he was indeed the informant, and they let him go. Roslin and Adama find out that Zarek has approved this vigilante justice so her presidency would remain clean. Roslin takes office again and issues a general, fleet-wide pardon for actions on New Caprica. Meanwhile, the Cylons debate about what to do with Baltar, and the final decision as to execute him or not is left to Caprica Six.

He does not mention finding the canister to the other Cylons, though Caprica Six sees it in a reconnaissance photo. On Galactica, the other Boomer takes her own call sign, "Athena." Arguments break out about whether the people left on New Caprica or those on Galactica sacrificed more. Adama confronts Tigh and Starbuck, who are behind the discontent, and he tells Starbuck to leave Galactica until she shapes up again and tells Tigh to stay in his quarters until he sobers up again. Gaeta uses Baltar's research to find the nebula, and the fleet locates the infected Basestar.

When D'Anna tortures him, he ends up using mental images of Head Six to ignore the pain, and when he speaks words of love to Head Six, D'Anna believes they are for her and begins to pity him. When Dr. Cottle figures out how to suppress the Cylon virus, which does not affect people, Apollo believes that they have a way to exterminate Cylons once and for all; Helo objects because of Athena, though she ends up being immune because she gave birth to Hera. Roslin decides to execute the Cylon prisoners within range of a resurrection ship to infect all Cylons, but Helo kills the prisoners before the plan can be completed. Adama refuses to investigate the death of the prisoners, but he, Cottle, and Roslin realize that the virus accidentally came from what they believe to be a beacon lighting the way to Earth.

Synopsis: When Galactica finds two Cylon Raiders attacking a third Raider, they end up taking onboard a man, definitely not a Cylon, who served under Adama during Adama's time commanding the Battlestar Valkyrie. The man had been lost during a black ops mission investigating the Cylons that ended up providing provocation for the attack on the Twelve Colonies, and he had been held by the Cylons ever since. Adama blames himself for the attack because of this, and Apollo is unable to convince him otherwise. Examining footage of the pilot's escape, Starbuck realizes that the Cylons let him go so he would reveal knowledge of this black ops mission and possibly kill Adama, since Adama had to shoot the man down during the mission to prevent the Cylons from finding out about the mission. Tigh stops the man from killing Adama, and the man goes off to be a civilian on another ship. Adama tries to resign, but Roslin refuses to allow it, telling him to consider his continued service as his penitence. Adama and Tigh also begin to reconcile. Additionally, Baltar is now in a three-way relationship with Caprica Six and D'Anna.

Synopsis: Crewmen of Galactica burn off steam by fighting in a boxing ring, in which all ranks are ignored. Starbuck, still not wanting to deal with her marriage to Anders, goes to the ring and ends up convincing Apollo to fight her. Adama, believing that he has allowed the crew to get too close to him and is thereby putting them at risk, faces Tyrol in the ring. He allows himself to lose and then tells the crew to get back to work, ending the boxing matches. However, Starbuck still wants to fight Apollo because of their unresolved sexual tension, which had come to a peak when they had sex on New Caprica, despite their relationships with Anders and Dualla, respectively. Just after they had sex, Starbuck had married Anders to avoid dealing with her feelings for Apollo, and this had lead to Apollo marrying Dualla. Back in the present day, as all the spectators leave, including the unhappy Anders and Dualla, Starbuck and Apollo finish beating each other up and reconcile.

Synopsis: The fleet is forced to cautiously jump through a radioactive star cluster to reach a planet covered in algae, which can replace its dwindling food supplies. Civilian ships are paired with Raptors to help guide them through the cluster. Starbuck learns from listening in on a conversation between Kat and a mysterious man that she used to smuggle illegal drugs and that she stole her current identity from someone who had died. Starbuck says that smugglers may have inadvertently helped the Cylons infiltrate the Twelve Colonies, but Kat says she had no idea about that. After dealing with the loss of two civilian ships and her own depression, Kat dies of radiation poisoning after saving another ship that was almost lost in the cluster, and she is memorialized by Adama, Apollo, and Starbuck. Meanwhile, Baltar and Caprica Six learn that D'Anna is killing herself over and over again because she claims that she sees the final five Cylons just before she is resurrected, and she wants to learn who they are. D'Anna takes Baltar to the Basestar's hybrid, a half-Cylon, half-human being who controls the ship, and by touching the hybrid, Baltar learns of another clue toward Earth, a planet called the Eye of Jupiter, which D'Anna thinks will help reveal the identity of the final five Cylons.

On the planet, Tyrol feels a strange compulsion to explore some nearby hills, which leads to him finding some kind of temple which he believes to be the lost Temple of the Five, which holds a key to finding Earth called the Eye of Jupiter. The Cylons suddenly arrive, and Baltar, Boomer, D'Anna, and Brother Cavil meet with Adama. The Cylons want the Eye and promise to leave the fleet alone, but Adama refuses. Boomer reveals to Athena that Hera is alive and sick on one of the Basestars, and Athena is furious, though Helo believes that it is a trick. Apollo, Dualla, Anders, Starbuck, and the people on the planet prepare to defend the Eye, and Gaeta informs Adama that the nearby star will be going supernova soon, which he thinks cannot be coincidence. D'Anna wants to go to the planet with Baltar because she believes the Temple will reveal the final five Cylons and ends their relationship with Caprica Six. Adama confirms to Athena that Hera is alive but out of their reach and is angry with Roslin for her duplicity. On the planet, the Cylons shoot down a Raptor with Starbuck in it, and Apollo and Anders argue about rescuing her. When D'Anna and Baltar try to fly down to the planet, Adama points nukes at the Temple, and the Cylons prepare to retaliate.

Dualla finds Starbuck, whose hands are burnt from the crash, as Apollo and Anders fend off a Centurion attack. Meanwhile, Helo kills Athena so she can be resurrected on a Basestar and look for Hera. Roslin thinks that Athena will betray them to the Cylons. Caprica Six takes Athena to Hera, and when Boomer threatens Hera, Six kills her and decides to go with Athena to Galactica. Apollo orders Tyrol to prepare to blow up the Temple as the Centurions continue their attack. D'Anna, Baltar, and Cavil manage to disable the explosives as the sun begins to go supernova, but Baltar kills Cavil when the latter becomes concerned about D'Anna's actions. D'Anna stands on a glowing symbol and sees the faces of the final five Cylons, but the vision mysteriously kills her. Tyrol, coming back to see why the explosives did not go off, knocks out Baltar. Dualla manages to repair the Raptor and flees the planet, and Galactica jumps away in time to avoid the sun going supernova. Gaeta analyzes information from the supernova and the Temple and discovers another sign pointing toward Earth in the form of a similar supernova thousands of years ago. Starbuck discovers that she painted a symbol years ago similar to the Eye of Jupiter symbol in the Temple and begins to wonder if Leoben was right that she has a special destiny, and D'Anna and her whole line is put into stasis for her irregular behavior.

Synopsis: In the Galactica prisons, Baltar attempts to commit suicide to discover if he is a Cylon, but his attempted hanging is foiled by a guard. Apollo and Dualla argue about their marriage and his feelings for Starbuck. Roslin tries to frighten Baltar into giving information about the Cylons, but all her tactics fail. Adama suggests trying an illegal hallucinogenic drug to get him to talk, and Roslin agrees. While drugged, Baltar admits to his complicity in the attack on the Twelve Colonies and reveals that the Eye of Jupiter was also related to the final five Cylons, though Dr. Cottle stops the interrogation there because of the drug's effects. Roslin and Adama try to use Baltar's trust in Gaeta to get further information, but Baltar realizes that Gaeta is working for them and tells him that he had allowed Gaeta access to documents on New Caprica to help the resistance. Gaeta stabs Baltar with a pen, and Roslin reveals that she had known Gaeta would try to kill Baltar. She agrees to give Baltar a trial. Apollo continues to drive himself crazy with his feelings for both Starbuck and Dualla, drinking himself silly at Galactica's new bar. He and Dualla finally reconcile shortly later.

Synopsis: Many civilians have been forced to live in a Galactica hanger bay, and a disease has broken out among them. Helo is in charge of the civilians, and he tries to get them treated. However, many of the civilians are from Sagittaron, one of the Twelve Colonies where strong religious beliefs prevented the people from accepting modern medicine. Dualla is from Sagittaron, but she cannot convince the people to get medical help. Eventually, thanks to a Sagittaron woman whose son dies, Helo finds out that one of the doctors was killing sick Sagittarons so that valuable medicine could be saved for those actually willing to take it. The doctor is arrested after he tries to kill Dualla, and Tigh, who had been friends with the doctor, admits that he had been wrong to trust him. Meanwhile, preparations for Baltar's trial are underway, and Caprica Six sits in the brig, speaking with Athena and her own Head Baltar.

Synopsis: Adama begins thinking about his wife, Carolanne, since it would have been their anniversary, and he imagines her chastising him for putting duty before family, which led to their divorce, and for trying to make himself seem infallible to his crew. Tyrol and Cally have marriage problems, but as they argue, they are trapped behind an airlock door because there is a leak in the ship's bulkhead where they were repairing. Roslin asks Adama to make Apollo the prosecutor in Baltar's trial, but Apollo refuses because of his existing duties. To rescue Tyrol and Cally, Athena pilots a Raptor to the outside of the ship near the breach in the bulkhead. They blow up the bulkhead, and Starbuck and Apollo grab Tyrol and Cally as they float into space. Romantic tension builds up between Adama and Roslin as Adama thinks of his old marriage, and Apollo receives a bunch of old legal books from his father.

Synopsis: When a Raptor accident nearly kills Roslin and her assistant, Tory Foster, Roslin and Adama discover that the workers aboard the fuel refinery ship are reading Baltar's book and are increasingly annoyed with their poor working conditions. The book is making the rounds around the fleet thanks to Baltar's lawyer, and even Cally is being taken in by its message of class conflict. Roslin confiscates Baltar's manuscripts. Adama arrests the foreman of the refinery ship and appoints Tyrol in his place, but as he deals with their problems and Roslin's refusal to accept their right to protest, he starts to agree with Baltar's words and eventually has the ship go on strike. Adama has Tyrol arrested and forces him to call of the strike by threatening to kill Cally. Tyrol negotiates with Roslin, and they agree to a better work rotation system, vocation training, and the reestablishment of the workers' union that Tyrol led on New Caprica. One of Tyrol's deck crew subordinates, Seelix, also becomes the fleet's newest pilot.

Synopsis: Starbuck begins to have strange dreams about the painting similar to the Eye of Jupiter and Leoben. On Helo's suggestion, she sees an oracle, who says that the dreams are an important message from her mother. Starbuck begins to tell Anders about her problematic relationship with her mother. On routine patrol, Starbuck spots a Raider that does not show up on radar and insists on following it into a storm, nearly killing herself. The storm resembles the painting. The Viper's internal footage shows no Raider, and Starbuck keeps seeing her younger self around. She says that she is no longer fit to fly, but Apollo offers to fly with her. When the Raider shows up again, she chases it into the storm and awakens in her apartment on Caprica with Leoben. Leoben shows her a vision of her arguing with her mother, who was once a non-commissioned member of the Colonial military, and finding out about her mother's cancer. Leoben allows her to see her mother on her deathbed, where the two reconcile, and Starbuck wonders if he is really Leoben, a claim which he himself never made. Back in her Viper, Starbuck willingly flies into the storm, and her Viper explodes. Adama and Apollo grieve.

Synopsis: Roslin randomly selects five ship captains, including Adama, to judge Baltar's trial. Anders mourns Starbuck's death and accidentally injures his leg while drunk. Then, when Baltar's defense attorney is assassinated by a bomb, a strange man named Romo Lampkin volunteers to be the replacement, claiming that he wants the fame. Adama puts Apollo in charge of Lampkin's security because Apollo is letting his sadness over Starbuck's death interfere with his regular duties. As Lampkin and Baltar discuss the trial, and Apollo watches, another bomb is found on Athena's Raptor. Lampkin seems to convince Caprica Six not to testify against Baltar, saying that Baltar still loves her. Shortly later, Lampkin is almost killed by another hidden bomb in a pile of paperwork. When Apollo visits Lampkin in the infirmary, he discovers that Lampkin is a kleptomaniac who inadvertently stole a magnet used in the explosives, which leads Apollo to the culprit, Galactica's third-in-command. The culprit is arrested, and Apollo, now interested in defending Baltar,argues with Adama about being appointed to the defense team. Adama eventually acquiesces, furious at his son. Anders and Apollo commiserate together and finally deal with Starbuck's death.

As the fleet gets closer to the nebula, they discover that the Cylons are still following them, and Caprica Six says it has something to do with the refinery ship. Baltar's trial finally gets underway, and Lampkin quickly takes control, saying that everyone wants to execute Baltar, not try him. He also gets Tigh barred as a witness by bringing up his murder of Ellen and his drinking problem; Tigh's unsuitability is compounded by his mentioning of the strange music and his statement that he himself would do anything to get Baltar executed. When Roslin takes the stand, Lampkin gets her to confess that she is taking her hallucinogenic drugs again because her cancer has returned, damaging her credibility as a witness. Apollo resigns his military commission when he and Adama argue over Baltar's guilt, prompting Dualla to leave him for good. Tory starts to hear the music as well during a press conference, and Gaeta and Helo come up with a plan to lose the Cylons.

Although this fails, Apollo's testimony that Baltar could not be faulted for New Caprica swings things in Baltar's favor, and the judge panel acquits him at a vote of 3-2, Adama himself voting not guilty. The courtroom bursts into a frenzy as Baltar wonders how he will survive in the fleet with so many people angry with him. Suddenly, as the fleet arrives at the nebula, Galactica experiences a temporary power outage, during which Baltar is taken away by three women to what they say will be his "new life." As Caprica Six sees a vision of the final five Cylons, Tyrol, Tigh, Anders, and Tory meet each other, sing the strange song together, and realize that they are Cylons. A group of Basestars suddenly appears, and Apollo, wanting to help, goes out in a Viper despite being grounded. While out, he finds Starbuck, who says that she has found Earth, alive in another Viper.

Synopsis: In a flashback to the final days of the Cylon War, Viper pilot William Adama had found a Cylon laboratory and the first Cylon hybrid, and young Helena Cain had lost her sister during an attack. Then, the episode goes forward to Apollo's time as the commanding officer of Pegasus, when he appointed a Cain loyalist, Kendra Shaw, to be his XO. Shaw had boarded the Pegasus just before the attack on the Twelve Colonies and had quickly been taken in by Cain's fiery conviction. Shaw and Starbuck became increasingly antagonistic when Shaw endangered Starbuck during an attack by antiquated Cylon Raiders. In another flashback, prompted by Shaw reminding Starbuck that Cain had shot a previous XO, Cain's lover, the Number Six that Baltar had found tortured in the Pegasus brig, revealed herself as a Cylon by helping Centurions infiltrate Pegasus. The other Boomer, not yet named Athena, said that these old Raiders are probably guarding the original hybrid, the one that Adama had seen years before. Apollo hatched a plan to find the hybrid and rescue a science team that its forces had captured. Shaw and Starbuck, both a part of the rescue team, found the hybrid that spoke of all twelve Cylon models and what was to come. During the rescue, Shaw was wounded, and she remained behind to detonate a nuclear warhead to destroy the hybrid. As she waited, the hybrid told her that Starbuck would end the human race, but the warhead exploded before she had the chance to tell Apollo. Despite Shaw and Cain's legacy, Adama and Apollo mulled over giving her a posthumous commendation.

Synopsis: As the Cylons advance on the fleet, Tyrol, Tigh, Tory, and Anders return to their posts, ignoring that they are Cylons for the time being. Tigh has a vision of shooting Adama, and Anders is similarly jostled, unable to shoot at a Cylon Raider. When he makes eye contact with the Raider, Anders' eye glows red, and all the Cylon forces retreat. Meanwhile, Baltar is taken away by the three people to a strange cult that worships him. After praying to the "one, true god" to kill him for what he has done, Baltar is attacked by a man whose son had died during the attack on the Twelve Colonies. He survives thanks to the aid of his worshippers, and Baltar is astonished to learn that the son of one of the cultists, Jeanne, has seemingly recovered from a fatal disease. Starbuck believes that she has only been gone for six hours and has no memories of dying, and her Viper is completely untouched. She believes that she can take the fleet to Earth, but the more jumps they take, the further they get away and the less she can feel the way. When Roslin has the fleet continue on its course, believing Starbuck to be a Cylon, Starbuck points a gun at her.

Synopsis: Roslin continues to disbelieve Starbuck's professions of knowing where Earth is. Starbuck hands her the gun, saying that if Roslin can no longer trust her, Roslin should shoot her. Roslin does shoot, but she misses, and Starbuck is taken away. Adama yells at Starbuck and knocks her down. When the fleet jumps again, Starbuck loses her sense of the path to Earth. The Cylons decide to vote as to whether or not to lobotomize the Raiders, who are not supposed to know the identities of the final five Cylons. The Twos, a.k.a. the Leobens, the Sixes, and the Eights vote against, and the Ones, a.k.a. the Cavils, the Fours, and the Fives vote for. Boomer breaks the tie, ignoring the tradition that all Cylons of a single model vote together. However, a Six removes inhibitors on the Centurions' brain functions, and the Centurions side with them, killing all the Ones, Fours, and Fives there. As Apollo leaves Galactica, Tory is placed in charge of finding out the identity of the final Cylon from Baltar, since he is most likely to know. They have sex, and Baltar says that it does not matter who is a Cylon as both humans and Cylons have souls. Finally, Adama allows Starbuck to search for Earth, giving her a ship and a team including Helo, Athena, Anders, and Gaeta, though he does not make the knowledge of the mission public.

Synopsis: The Cylon civil war forces the Brother Cavils to allow the Twos, Sixes, and Eights to reactivate the Threes, the D'Annas, to learn the identities of the final five Cylons. However, it is a trick, as Cavil attacks the rebels when they find the deactivated Threes. Back at the fleet, Apollo joins the Quorum of Twelve as the new delegate for Caprica as the Quorum and Tom Zarek try to find out what happened to the ship Starbuck took. Apollo brings up to Roslin an executive order that he believes gives her too much power, and Roslin agrees to discuss it at the next Quorum meeting. Meanwhile, Cally believes that Tyrol's strange behavior is due to him having an affair, not knowing that he is meeting with the other three Cylons. She spies on him and finds out that he, Tigh, and Tory are Cylons. She knocks out Tyrol when he is alone and tries to kill herself and her and Tyrol's son. Tory convinces her to calm down, saying that they are not evil, but she knocks Cally out, takes her son, and throws her out an airlock. Shortly later, Adama brings Tyrol the bad news.

Synopsis: Tyrol deals with Cally's death and his feelings about being a Cylon. Tory believes that they are perfect beings, but Tigh wants to hold on to his humanity. Baltar and his worshippers are attacked by a religious sect called the Sons of Ares that is opposed to his teachings. He retaliates by interrupting a traditional religious ceremony and decrying the old gods, prompting Galactica security to arrest him. Tigh begins to hallucinate that Caprica Six is Ellen when he visits her in the brig, and Tyrol makes a repair mistake that nearly costs the lives of a Raptor crew, infuriating him. He continues to spiral downward, telling Adama that he loved Boomer, not Cally, and that Cally was only "second-best." When he starts to insult Adama, Adama demotes him. Tigh meets with Six again, and although she attacks him at one point, they end up kissing each other. Roslin unilaterally issues a decree that curtails assemblies, aimed at preventing Baltar's sect from gaining power, much to the consternation of the Quorum. Guards bar Baltar and his group from going into their home because of the decree, but when they attack Baltar as he tries to enter, Apollo arrives to inform them that the Quorum has overridden Roslin and thrown out the decree. Baltar then calls to his worshippers to love themselves, then love each other, to thunderous applause as Tory and Apollo watch on. Meanwhile, Starbuck's team continues the search for Earth.

Synopsis: Starbuck's team is increasingly annoyed with her fervency about locating Earth. As they continue searching, even though Adama had given her a time limit that is almost up, Starbuck finds Leoben in a Raider and takes him onto the ship. She believes he can help them find Earth, and she allows Leoben to get closer to her, something Anders and Helo do not like. Anders confronts Leoben, but Leoben tells him of the civil war and says that Starbuck must meet with a Cylon hybrid. This knowledge only makes Starbuck's team more irritated. After Leoben's raider explodes, killing someone, Starbuck blames him, but Leoben continues to talk of her destiny. When one of Starbuck's crew refuses to follow her order to rendezvous with Leoben's Basestar, a fight breaks out, and Helo relieves her of command because of her irrational behavior. On Galactica, Baltar's teachings continue to gain traction, eventually swaying even Tyrol when Tyrol needs something to believe in after Cally's death and his personal revelation. Although Tyrol attacks Baltar at one of the latter's sermons, Baltar goes later to Tyrol's quarters, begging for forgiveness and offering his hand, which Tyrol accepts.

Synopsis: Anders intervenes in the mutiny among Starbuck's team, shooting Gaeta in the leg. Starbuck agrees to go with Anders, Athena, Leoben, and one of Anders' friends in a Raptor to meet with the Cylons. Starbuck follows her instincts and finds Leoben's Basestar, badly damaged and trailing vapor. The Raptor is hit by debris, and Starbuck wakes up inside the Basestar. There, numerous Number Eights try to get Athena to lead a revolt against the Number Sixes, but Athena refuses. Anders' friend is killed by a Six when his friend shows no remorse for having killed Six back on Caprica, but the lead Six, Natalie, kills that Six to prevent fighting from breaking out. When everyone tries to disconnect the hybrid, Starbuck learns from it that she is the harbinger of death who will lead everyone to their end. Using a clue from the hybrid, Natalie convinces everyone else to go find D'Anna, though the Basestar rendezvouses with the rest of Starbuck's team first. Back at the fleet, Roslin's health continues to deteriorate, and Tory takes on more and more management duties. Roslin fights with another terminal cancer patient who believes in Baltar's religious messages because she has felt the love of the Cylon God, which she believes to be the god of all. Roslin has a shared dream with the woman of the woman crossing a river and meeting with her dead loved ones, and she finds out that the woman has died when she wakes. She and Adama muse about Apollo and Starbuck, and Adama says that Roslin has made him believe in Earth.

Synopsis: The damaged Basestar and Starbuck's team's ship coordinate jumps to arrive at the fleet at the same time so that Galactica will not open fire on the Basestar. However, Starbuck's team's ship malfunctions, and the Basestar arrives in the middle of the fleet alone. Just as Galactica is about to obliterate the Basestar, Starbuck's team's ship returns and calls them off. As Gaeta's leg is amputated because of the gunshot wound, Adama, Roslin, Tigh, and Tory meet with Natalie, who explains to them the current Cylon situation. She tells them that the final five Cylons are in the human fleet and offers to help them destroy the Cylons' resurrection hub to make all Cylons permanently mortal. They just have to help rescue D'Anna, who is at the hub as well. Adama and Roslin agree to this proposal. Roslin, Athena, and Caprica Six have another shared dream, this time involving a vision of Baltar, and Athena becomes increasingly concerned about what will happen to Hera. The Cylon hybrid had mentioned the opera house where the visions take place to Starbuck, so Starbuck tries to help Roslin interpret the dreams. Natalie convinces the Quorum to trust her faction of Cylons, and the alliance is made official. However, when Hera goes missing after drawing Number Six and writing the number over and over, Athena finds her with Natalie. Athena shoots Natalie, swearing that she will not take her daughter. On the Basestar, when Roslin, along with Baltar and a bunch of pilots, go to speak with the hybrid, the hybrid, once reconnected, suddenly jumps the Basestar away from the fleet.

Synopsis: Natalie dies in sickbay from her gunshot wounds as the fleet reacts to the disappearance of Roslin and Baltar, along with the Basestar. Athena is imprisoned after explaining her visions about Hera to Adama. Adama orders Tigh to interrogate Caprica Six to learn the location of the resurrection hub, but one of the missing Raptors suddenly jumps into the fleet with jump coordinates and recordings of a fight at the hub. Adama leaves a few Raptors behind to wait for the Basestar, believing that Roslin must still be alive. He then confronts Tigh, saying that he knows that Tigh and Caprica Six have been having "special meetings" and that Six is now pregnant. Although they yell at each other, they get over their anger, and things return to normal. As the fleet moves on, Adama decides to wait for Roslin alone, not wanting to risk anyone else's lives, so he puts Tigh in charge and remains behind alone in a Raptor. Meanwhile, Apollo and Lampkin are tasked with of finding a replacement president. After rejecting every possible candidate, Lampkin forces Apollo at gunpoint to realize that Apollo himself is the best candidate. Apollo is sworn in as acting president shortly later.

Synopsis: This episode focuses on what happened to Roslin and the Basestar once it started jumping. The Basestar jumped over and over, which an Eight surmised to be because the hybrid was taking the Basestar back to the hub as per its last mission before it was disconnected. During each jump, Roslin saw images of Elosha, her old priestess friend, and spoke with her about life and death. Helo, on the ship as well, discussed an attack plan on the hub with another Number Eight, and he began to feel attracted to her, especially since she had downloaded some of Athena's memories. At the hub, Brother Cavil reactivated the single Number Three known as D'Anna, the one who found Hera and went with Baltar to the algae planet. Cavil asked for D'Anna's help in ending the civil war. Helo and the Eight told their attack plan, which involves intense human-Cylon cooperation, to the rest of the people aboard the Basestar, but Roslin privately told Helo to bring D'Anna to her first because humanity alone must know who the final five Cylons are and what the way to Earth is. Helo reluctantly agreed. Roslin came to term with her inevitable death in a final vision just before the Basestar arrived. The attack was successful, and Helo and the Eight rescued D'Anna. However, during a counterattack, Baltar was badly injured, and in his delirium, he tried to excuse his complicity in the attack on the Twelve Colonies with calls to religion. Though she first decided to let Baltar bleed out for his crimes, Roslin suddenly changed her mind after a vision of Adama and tried to save Baltar. Baltar lived, and Helo brought D'Anna to Roslin, ignoring the protestations of the Eight, though D'Anna refused to say anything until the Basestar rendezvouses with the fleet. During the fight, one human pilot, spooked by working with the Cylons, started jumping back to the fleet. He wasis killed just before, but the Raptor was the one that arrived at the fleet in Sine Qua Non. The episode then goes to the present day, when the Basestar jumps next to Adama's Raptor, and Adama and Roslin are reunited.

Synopsis: In response to Roslin's betrayal of their trust, the Cylons, led by the returning D'Anna, take all of the people on the Basestar hostage in exchange for the final five Cylons. Roslin tells Adama, who returns to Galactica, to destroy the Basestar if things go poorly. Tory reveals herself first, and D'Anna takes the opportunity to start executing hostages. Tigh tells the truth to Adama, who is completely shocked by the knowledge, and offers his life up as leverage. Adama has Tigh imprisoned, raging by himself that his best friend is a Cylon. Things begin to escalate as Apollo threatens to kill Anders, Tigh, and Tyrol and D'Anna arms the Basestar's weapons. Starbuck ends things when she discovers that her shiny new Viper is receiving some kind of odd signal that she believes is coming from Earth. D'Anna and Apollo agree to ally to find Earth instead of fight each other. However, when the fleet does finally arrive at Earth, it discovers a ruined planet covered in radioactivity.

Synopsis: The devastation on Earth, caused by a nuclear holocaust some 2,000 years prior, shocks both the humans and Cylons in the fleet. Baltar and the Cylons realize that all the bodies there are Cylons, and the Cylons realize that the "Thirteenth Tribe" that lived on Earth were some different kind of Cylons from millennia ago who left from Kobol. However, Adama does not reveal this fact to the fleet at large. Anders, Tyrol, and Tory have flashbacks of their lives 2,000 years ago while on Earth. Starbuck and Leoben find that the source of her Viper's signal is a damaged Viper with a dead body in it that has Starbuck's dog tags. Starbuck burns the body, disturbed by the knowledge that she died, though she tells no one else. Roslin loses all hope, and Dualla commits suicide after one final night with Apollo. Adama tries to get Tigh to kill him too, but Tigh reminds Adama of his duties to humanity. Adama then decides to take the fleet to look for any nearby, habitable planet and invites the Cylons to come as well. D'Anna chooses to remain, having lost all hope for the future. On Earth, Tigh has a vision of Ellen, realizing that she is the final Cylon, and sees them both die back during the nuclear holocaust.

Synopsis: Tigh and Six rejoice at their growing baby, as it means that Cylons can procreate with each other and survive as a species. Gaeta, however, is infuriated that Cylons get better hospital treatment than humans. During a press conference about the fleet's new course, Apollo lets slip that he has learned that the final Cylon is female, but nothing more, but afterward, Zarek fumes about the alliance with the Cylons. Adama discusses with his officers about upgrading the fleet's jump drives with Cylon technology, but Gaeta, who is increasingly hostile to the Cylons, disapproves. Meanwhile, Tyrol finds out that his son is not actually his, as he has no Cylon blood. Gaeta accuses Starbuck of being a Cylon and begins to gather likeminded people. He ends up allying with Zarek to remove the Cylons from the equation. Meanwhile, Roslin can no longer act as president and remains in a hospital bed, where Adama meets with her regularly. Baltar begins to rail against God for placing them in this horrible situation, and at the speech, Tyrol sees another pilot and realizes that he is the father of Cally's child. He attacks the other pilot and later tells him that he must watch the child too. Zarek convinces the fuel refinery ship to jump away from the fleet as a form of protest, causing a fleet crisis. Athena ultimately retrieves the ship, and Zarek is arrested, but Gaeta and Zarek's new alliance remains a looming threat.

Synopsis: Gaeta helps break Zarek out of Galactica's brig, and Zarek returns to the Quorum. Apollo tries to find out from Adama about why Zarek is out of the brig and heads to Galactica when Zarek tries to convince him that Adama let him out. On Galactica, Gaeta starts an anti-Cylon mutiny, and Apollo is taken captive once he arrives. However, Starbuck manages to rescue him, and the two meet up with Roslin to help her find Baltar, who has a wireless transmitter that would allow them to speak to the whole fleet. Anders, Helo, Athena, Hera, and Caprica Six are imprisoned together, and Adama and Tigh break free after they are also put in prison. After broadcasting to the fleet to cease fighting, Apollo, Starbuck, Baltar, and Roslin run into Adama and Tigh in the Galactica corridors, and Tyrol preps a Raptor to take Roslin and Adama safely onto the Basestar. Zarek fumes that Apollo is not dead as he had originally wanted. Tigh and Adama stay behind to defend the Raptor, but as the episode ends, they are being swarmed by enemy forces, and Gaeta has Galactica target Roslin's Raptor.

Synopsis: Roslin's Raptor makes it to the Basestar, and Adama and Tigh are captured after a long fight. Gaeta and Zarek have a farce of a trial for Adama, with Lampkin as his lawyer, and sentence him to execution. Zarek meets with the Quorum to get their support, but they reject his coup, and he has them all killed. Meanwhile, Apollo and Starbuck try to stir up dissent against Gaeta and Zarek. They rescue Anders, Helo, Athena, Hera, and Caprica Six and enlist the aid of Galactica's former third-in-command, now a criminal because of his assassination attempts on Baltar back in the Son Also Rises, to rescue Adama. The Cylons on the Basestar, nervous about these developments, try to jump away from the fleet, but Roslin convinces them to remain. Adama leads a force to head toward the bridge, and during one of the skirmishes, Anders is shot in the neck. Starbuck takes him to see Dr. Cottle. As Galactica and the Basestar face off, Gaeta tries to have Galactica jump away. However, Tigh sabotaged the FTL drive, and the ship goes nowhere. Adama's forces retake the bridge bloodlessly, and Gaeta and Zarek are executed for their mutiny. While in the engine room, Tyrol also notices that some of the bulkheads have been badly damaged.

Synopsis: Tyrol shows Adama the damage to Galactica, saying that the ship will likely not be able to make another jump. Adama puts Tyrol back in charge of engineering and tells him to get on it, but Tyrol insists that the job cannot be done with a Cylon organic material that would "heal" over the damage. Although Adama initially refuses, he finally gives in when he realizes the extent of the damage. Meanwhile, as a result of being shot in the head, Anders remembers everything about himself and tells everyone about Kobol, how the Final Five recreated the ancient resurrection process, and were resurrected on a resurrection ship around Earth when the nuclear holocaust happened. They arrived at the Twelve Colonies during the Cylon War and helped end the war, creating the humanoid models. However, Dr. Cottle ultimately forces Anders to undergo surgery because of the bullet, and Sam loses all brain function as a result. Roslin also puts Apollo in charge of assembling a new Quorum. On a Cylon Basestar, in a flashback during the Cylon occupation of New Caprica, Ellen resurrected shortly after Tigh killed her. She spoke with Cavil, who refused to leave humanity alone because he wanted justice for Cylons. He spoke with Ellen, particularly about his feelings for her and her previous closeness with the Number Sevens, all of whom he had killed. He also cursed Ellen for having given him the weakness of human emotion. Later, after the destruction of the resurrection hub, Cavil tried to extract information on resurrection from Ellen's brain, no longer trusting her. However, Boomer, having been swayed by Ellen's words about giving Cylons free will and compassion, helped her escape off the Basestar in a Raptor.

Synopsis: In the present day, Boomer and Ellen arrive at the fleet in their Raptor. Boomer is arrested, and Ellen is reunited with Tigh. Some of the other Cylons say that they should leave the fleet since they have the final five Cylons and Caprica Six has proven that Cylons can procreate again. Ellen becomes infuriated with Tigh for having the child with Six, especially since she considers the other Cylons their children. The final five Cylons decide to vote on what to do. Tyrol and Tory vote to leave, Tigh votes to stay, and they assume that Anders would want to stay based on him previously telling Tigh not to leave. Ellen puts off casting the deciding vote and speaks with Caprica Six, ultimately realizing that Tigh had loved Six more than he had ever loved her. She votes to leave, and she yells at Tigh, saying that he cares even more about Adama than Six. This upsets Six, who ultimately miscarries her baby, even though Ellen tries to calm her down. Meanwhile, Tyrol and his repair crews, consisting of both Cylons and humans, work to repair Galactica. Baltar gets weapons from Adama to protect his worshippers and their things from the Sons of Ares. A monitor shows that Anders is in REM sleep, indicating higher brain functions, and the Cylons begin memorializing their dead in the same way as the humans on the memorial wall.

Synopsis: Starbuck begins to fall into depression because of Anders' condition, feeling like she no longer has purpose after leading everyone to Earth and dreaming of her own dead body found there. She ends up befriending a piano player at Galactica's bar, and she talks with him about her parents, particularly her father, who had left her mother a long time before. After she helps him write a new song, having learned how to play the piano from her father, Starbuck starts to remember a strange song from her childhood, the notes to which Hera draws on a piece of paper. The song turns out to be the same song that Tyrol, Tigh, Tory, and Anders had heard back in Crossroads, Part 2, and Tigh, Ellen, and Tory talk to Starbuck about it. The piano player vanishes as they speak. Meanwhile, Galactica prepares to send Boomer over to the Cylons for trial and presumably execution. Boomer convinces Tyrol to help her escape by saying that she thinks they still have a future together, partially through a mental projection of what she imagines to be their future home. She knocks out Athena and impersonates her, kidnaps Hera after having sex with Helo, and jumps away in the Raptor Tyrol had provided, damaging Galactica in the process. Tyrol despairs when he realizes what Boomer had tricked him into helping to do.

Synopsis: Repairs to Galactica's hull continue, but an accidental breach kills many of the repair workers. Ellen intuits that Boomer, likely under orders from Cavil, had taken Hera to the Colony, a large Cylon structure that the Cylons had fled to after the Cylon War, so that Cavil could study her. Adama allows a Cylon Heavy Raider to look for the Colony, but the Colony has already moved from its previous coordinates. Boomer begins to grow fond of Hera as she heads to the Colony, revealing that she does still have feelings for Tyrol, and she allows Hera into her mental projection of her home with Tyrol. When they arrive at the Colony, Cavil takes her, but Hera does not want to love Boomer, and Boomer does not seem to want to hand her over. Starbuck has Baltar analyze blood found on the dog tags on what she thought was her body, and Baltar discovers that the blood is hers. He reveals this knowledge at a memorial for those killed in the hull breach, though neither Adama nor Starbuck take this well. Apollo then offers Starbuck all the support he has to give. Anders is placed in a hybrid tank to recover, but when Starbuck decides to mercy-kill him, he begins to start speaking like a hybrid. Using the Cylon organic compound in Galactica's bulkheads as an interface, he connects with Galactica's systems. He is temporarily disconnected because he could jump Galactica anywhere, but Starbuck reconnects him to figure out what the strange song means. Finally, Adama reluctantly decides to abandon Galactica, and he begins transfers off the ship and starts stripping it for parts. He and Tigh then toast Galactica and their long time on it.

Synopsis: In a series of flashbacks to the years before the attack on the Twelve Colonies, Adama had trouble transitioning to civilian life, and Baltar dealt with his troublesome father, who Caprica Six, then still unrevealed, eventually sent to a nursing home. Roslin learned that her two sisters and father were killed in a car accident. Apollo meet Starbuck for the first time while visiting his brother, Zak, and during a sports interview, Anders stated that he played for perfection, not because he wanted to win. In the present day, Galactica's crew moves over to the Basestar. Adama issues a general amnesty, which also includes Tyrol, who was imprisoned for his part in letting Boomer kidnap Hera. He asks for volunteers for a mission to rescue Hera, and many people, including Starbuck, Athena, Helo, Roslin, Caprica Six, Apollo, and all of the final five Cylons, step forward. However, Adama orders Dr. Cottle to stay behind because the fleet still needs him. Adama then sends a Raptor to scout the Colony, and they discover that the Colony is situated right next to a black hole.

Air Date: In another series of flashbacks, although Tigh convinced Adama to try again at a civilian job, Adama ultimately decided to return to the military. Apollo and Starbuck nearly had sex with each other after meeting a second time before Zak inadvertently interrupted them. After going on a blind date, Roslin joined the presidential campaign for the president she eventually served under. Boomer was nearly grounded permanently because of her inability to successfully land a Raptor, but Adama and Tigh gave her another chance. Finally, Baltar gave Caprica Six access to the Colonial Defense Mainframe, leading to the fateful attack on the Twelve Colonies. Back in the present time, Baltar decides to join the rescue mission. When he meets with Caprica Six, their Head Six and Head Baltar speak with each other, each fully aware of the other and visible to both Six and Baltar. After Adama and Roslin relinquish command of the fleet, the rescue mission begins with Galactica jumping right next to the Colony. Anders disables the Colony's hybrids with his new powers, and Galactica rams into the side of the Colony. Boomer rescues Hera and hands her over to Starbuck's rescue team, and Athena kills her right afterward. As Galactica is boarded by Cylons, Hera is separated from the team, and Athena, Roslin, and Six start looking for her in a fashion that greatly parallels their shared visions. Cavil finds her and holds her hostage in the bridge. Baltar, inspired by Head Six and Head Baltar, convinces Cavil to end the war in exchange for the final five Cylons giving him resurrection technology again. However, when the final five Cylons prepare to transfer the data over to the Colony, Tyrol sees Tory's memories and learns that she killed Cally. He attacks her, and fighting breaks out again. Cavil commits suicide once he sees that all is lost, and a chance accident sends the Colony spiraling toward the black hole. Starbuck is left to jump Galactica away, and she inputs the coordinates from the strange song. Galactica arrives around a planet hospitable for human life, which Adama chooses to name Earth because of the name's symbolic meaning for hope. The rest of the fleet rendezvouses with Galactica, and they choose to abandon their technology to live alongside the primitive humans that already inhabit on the planet. Anders, still brain dead, flies the fleet into the sun, and the remaining humans and Cylons colonize the whole planet. The Cylons also choose to give the surviving Centurions free will and control of the Basestar. In the midst of the settlement efforts, Starbuck suddenly disappears without saying goodbye to anyone. Baltar and Caprica choose to live with each other again, Helo, Athena, and Hera are reunited, and Roslin finally dies of her cancer while with Adama, looking for a place to build a cabin together. Years later, on modern day Earth, Head Six and Head Baltar look at a news headline that says that mitochondrial Eve, the single woman from whom all living humans are descended, has been found in Africa. Eve just happens to be Hera. The two then chat about humanity's future and the vicious cycle of the creation of artificial intelligences and the war that comes afterward. Head Six comments that humanity may escape the cycle this time, as per God's plan, and Head Baltar snidely replies that "it" does not like that name.
